Kogan Energy will be online before end of year
Shoppers are used to finding everything from baby blankets to laptops on Kogan, which bills itself as Australia’s premier shopping destination. Soon, you’ll be able to buy energy through the online retailer as well. Kogan announced a partnership Monday with Powershop Australia to offer “low cost power and gas” on its website by the end of the year.
Powershop Australia has been ranked as the country’s greenest power company five years running by Greenpeace, and offers 100 per cent carbon neutral power for business and residential customers.
“We generate some of the cleanest and greenest energy in Australia. Together with Kogan, we believe we can make a real difference to the energy space by delivering simple, great value, energy offerings through Kogan Energy,” Meridian Energy Australia and Powershop Australia CEO Ed McManus said in a press release.
Before 2019 is out, Kogan plans to offer its more than 1.5 million customers “low cost power and gas, and a first-class customer experience using technology that will enable customers to easily track their energy usage at any time,” executive director David Shafer said.
Through its customary digital efficiency, Kogan hopes to prices its power and gas competitively. Kogan already offers a power and gas price comparison tool on its website, and will be adding its own product to it. McManus said the new vertical will be a “win-win-win” for Kogan’s customers and shareholders and for Meridian, which owns Powershop Australia. Other verticals on the site include Kogan Mobile, Kogan Travel, Kogan Insurance, Kogan Money, and Kogan Internet.
